Congratulations to those from the Blaby District Council who have gained their Carbon Literacy certificates as part of the education programme established by the Leicestershire and Rutland Association of Local Councils.

Those who have got certificates are:

Steve Wegrif – Cosby Parish Council

Emma Frost, Karen Pierce and Paul Servadei – Countesthorpe Parish Council:

Carly Hall – Kirby Muxloe Parish Council

They all attended two half days in November 2023, which covered what Parish and Town councils can do to put together a plan to tackle climate change.

The Carbon Net Zero pilot project has been put together by LRALC for four parishes as a commission from Blaby District Council. The purpose is to encourage town and parish councils to measure their own carbon footprint and take steps to assist the district council reach a net zero target for 2030. LRALC has provided baseline and ongoing support for each of the pilot councils, with Carbon Literacy training and assessment from Save Our Shropshire.
